The Venezuelan government demands the release of Alex Saab in order to resume the dialogue with the Venezuelan opposition; considering that it is one of the requests that have recently been made public on several occasions by the spokespersons of the ruling party.

Alex Saab is illegally detained in the United States, and has been deprived of his freedom since June 2020; considering this fact as a “kidnapping”, and also turning this fact into one of the most serious diplomatic violations in the world.

For his part, President Nicolás Maduro, the first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Psuv), Diosdado Cabello and the president of the pro-government National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, the latter has been the one who has most requested Saab’s release.

“Do not propose a dialogue and then attack directly as the Prime Minister of Norway did; as the US Department of Justice did, which committed the barbarity of kidnapping a Venezuelan diplomatic representative, Alex Saab”, stated Jorge Rodríguez.

“I hope that a direct, courageous, sincere and understanding dialogue with the Government of the United States will be opened. I wish it were with the government of Joe Biden. If it happens, very good, and if it does not happen, we will continue with our struggle”, said Nicolás Maduro.

In a recent petition, another of the government spokesmen who adopted this position is Diosdado Cabello, who on January 19 stated: “It has been very clear, if you want dialogue, take the actions that must be taken, release those you have kidnapped and we will start talking, it is as simple as that”, said Diosdado.

For the Venezuelan government, Alex Nain Saab is an important piece in the dialogue, and as a diplomat; since he brought joy to the Venezuelan people, making himself available to bring food and medicines, which attended the needs of many people.
