Lawyer Alfred de Zayas asserted in a recent interview that Venezuelan Ambassador Alex Saab was kidnapped and tortured.
De Zayas is a lawyer, writer, historian and expert for the United Nations in the promotion of a democratic and egalitarian international order, and has denounced that the transfer of diplomat Alex Saab was a kidnapping.
Alfred de Zayas: Alex Saab was kidnapped and tortured
The expert Alfred de Zayas says that what the United States has done against Julian Assange, Meng Wanzhou or Alex Saab “is a form of state terrorism” that violates international law and due process.
Alfred de Zayas assures that “U.S. justice bows to the whims of the White House” and warns that in the trial against Saab “there will be no justice, only politics and terror”.
Alex Nain Saab was arrested on June 12, 2020 when his plane stopped to refuel at the Amilcar Cabral International Airport on the island of Sal.
After his arrest, Venezuela assured that the businessman is a Venezuelan citizen and an “agent” of the Government who was “in transit” in Cape Verde, so his lawyers argue that “he had the right to personal inviolability as Special Envoy of Venezuela”.
Let us recall that Alex Saab was extradited to the United States on October 16, 2021 under the false accusation of creating an alleged corruption scheme with the importation of medicines and food to Venezuela.
